Is Britwise really free?
Three speaking sessions a day, every day, forever. Always. No card needed to start. We make money on Pro/Family upgrades, not on locking up daily practice.
Why British English, specifically?
Because IELTS is graded out of Cambridge. RP, Estuary, Northern, Welsh — they're all welcome. Angie's training data is weighted toward British English broadcast speech (BBC + IELTS practice corpora).
How does the AI grading compare to a human examiner?
Within ±0.25 of the human band on our internal validation set (sample size n=64 dual-rated by a Cambridge-trained linguist). We're working towards a published, externally-audited efficacy report — target Q4 2026 — and will post the methodology on /efficacy. We won't claim an audit cadence we haven't yet delivered.
What if I use a different accent (Indian, Filipino, etc.)?
You'll get exactly the same band you'd get from a fair examiner. We score intelligibility, not 'Britishness'. If your accent is clear, you score well — full stop.
Can I cancel after the 7-day trial?
Yes. One tap. No retention call. We don't even ask why.
How does the money-back guarantee work?
Ask for a refund within 30 days of paying and we return the full amount — no conditions, no study targets to hit, no questions asked. It applies on every paid plan, whatever your band and however much you practised. One automatic refund per customer; after that, or after 30 days, email support@britwise.school and a person answers within 3 business days. Full statement in Terms §5.
How do refunds work?
Two routes: the 7-day free trial (cancel before it ends and your card is never charged) and the 30-day money-back guarantee on paid plans — fastest from Settings → Subscription & Billing → Request full refund, which issues it immediately. Refunds go back to your original payment method within 5–10 working days.
What do the Family plans include?
Family (£29.99/mo) gives 4 Pro seats; Family Premium (£35.99/mo) gives 4 Platinum seats. Each member gets their own account, streaks and study plan — and parents can follow progress from the Parents dashboard.
Does this work for IELTS Academic AND General Training?
Yes. The Speaking rubric is identical across both. Writing prompts adapt to your chosen track.
Will my audio be used to train AI?
Never. Transcripts are kept for your own progress reports; audio is deleted within minutes of grading. GDPR-compliant by default.
Can my school or company buy seats in bulk?
Yes — see /corporate or /schools for the seat-based plans. £9 per seat per month for corporates, free for K-12 schools with 30+ students.
What devices does it work on?
Anywhere with a microphone: iPhone, Android, Mac, PC, iPad. Native apps in beta on iOS + Android; the web app is the canonical experience.
What if I get stuck and need a human?
