These terms are an agreement between you and Britwise School Ltd (“Britwise”, “we”, “us”), a company registered in England & Wales (Company No. 17253094, VAT GB 522 4716 10), registered office 71–75 Shelton Street, Covent Garden, London WC2H 9JQ. By creating an account or using the Britwise app or website, you agree to these terms. Please read them carefully.

You must be at least 13 years old to use Britwise. Learners aged 13–15 need a parent or guardian's email at sign-up. You're responsible for keeping your login details secure and for activity under your account. Please give us accurate information, and tell us promptly if you think your account has been accessed without your permission. One account is for one person.

Britwise is an English-learning app: it provides AI-assisted lessons, a speaking coach with spoken feedback, practice games, progress tracking and related features. We're always improving the app, so specific features may change, be added or be removed over time.

Britwise offers paid subscription plans. The key points (please read these — they matter for billing):

Prices are shown at checkout, inclusive or exclusive of VAT as applicable to your location. We'll give notice before any price increase takes effect.

Where it is offered with your plan, our +0.5 band guarantee works as follows: if you complete the recommended study schedule (broadly, at least 25 of 30 days at the recommended daily minutes) and your assessed level does not improve by at least half a band, we'll refund that month's subscription fee on request. To claim, email legal@britwise.school within 7 days of completing the schedule. This guarantee is in addition to your legal rights and does not promise any specific exam result (see “Disclaimers”).

Purchases made through the App Store or Google Play are subject to Apple's and Google's refund policies, and refund requests for those purchases must usually be made directly to Apple or Google. For web purchases made via Stripe, contact us and we'll handle eligible refunds. UK and EU consumers keep all statutory cancellation and refund rights; note that by starting to use the digital content during any cooling-off period you may consent to losing the right to cancel that period.

The Britwise app, its content, lessons, software, designs and voice personas are owned by Britwise School Ltd or our licensors, and are protected by law. We grant you a personal, non-transferable licence to use them for your own learning. You keep ownership of the audio and answers you submit, and you grant us a licence to process and store them so we can provide and improve the service, as described in our Privacy Policy.

Britwise is an educational tool. AI feedback and level estimates are provided to help you learn and are not a formal qualification or an official exam score. Except for any guarantee expressly stated in section 5, we do not promise any particular exam outcome or result. The service is provided “as is” to the extent permitted by law.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability to you for any claims relating to the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, lost profits or lost opportunity. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud. None of this affects your statutory consumer rights.

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and disputes are subject to the courts of England and Wales. If you are a consumer resident elsewhere in the UK or EU, you keep the benefit of any mandatory consumer protections of your home country.

We may update these terms from time to time. When we make material changes we'll update the “last updated” date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app or by email. Continuing to use Britwise after changes take effect means you accept the updated terms.
